180: “Biko” by Peter Gabriel

Peter Gabriel doesn't quite get what it means to mime.Ladies and gentlemen… Peter Gabriel!!!  And in the other corner of the ring… Apartheid!!!

LOOK! IT’S PETER GABRIEL! FROM THE TOP ROPE! PETER! GABRIEL! TAKES! DOWN! APARTHEID!!!!

Well, maybe it was more than Petey G, and the man he sings about, Stephen Biko, who beat back Apartheid.  But they were part of the same force that drove a handful of my friends in high school in the early 90’s to wear the green, yellow and red colors of African solidarity on the Member’s Only jackets covering their lily white asses, in Clarksville, TN. And it made sense to all of us.

Because we’re all people, dude.

Top to bottom, it is a beautiful thing, this crazy world we live in.

Enjoy it.
